Step up case study - Disability (DARE) – Finding my passion in nail art!
Focus on people who have a disability, are aged 16 years or over and are unemployed or economically inactive. The stories highlight the impact of support provided to enhance opportunities to gain qualifications and progress into work or stay in work.
The participant always struggled in school. She always wanted to pursue other things and, through step up, has discovered a love of nail art.
Regarding challenges and barriers faced, the participant stated:
"I faced a lot of social anxiety but by pushing myself to interact more I have overcome this and even made friends in my studies. I have found a new love for nail art. I also enjoyed the structure for routine it gave me while also helping me overcome my personal issues and anxiety.”
