Step Up Case Study - WRAP – Women Returners Access Programme – Further Education Provision - moving forward with confidence overcoming dyslexia-related barriers to achieve Essential Skills Numeracy and progress into work
Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.
When the participant enrolled on the WRAP programme she described feeling lost and unsure of where to go for support. Having struggled for years with dyslexia particularly in relation to achieving her Essential Skills Numeracy qualification her confidence had been significantly affected.
Her progress since joining WRAP has been exceptional. The confidence she has gained through both academic support and practical activities is evident.
Looking ahead she is focused and motivated. Her main goal is to achieve her Essential Skills Numeracy qualification and progress into paid employment.
