Step Up case studies allows readers to hear from people who have been supported by the Step Up funded projects.

    Background

This participant was a single mum but lacked the courage to enhance her skills via the traditional educational route. She had little routine in her life before finding a leaflet for WRAP in her mail.

    Participant's story

    She said:

“I was feeling ready to go back to studies and enhance my skills but lacked the courage to find a way to do it. I received a leaflet about WRAP through my letterbox and it was a perfect sign at the perfect time. I also needed to meet new people and get out of the house as a woman and not a single Mum.

"WRAP helped me to gain the confidence to pursue studies and get on with my life goals; as well as improving my routine and not give up."

    She added:

"I gained a lot from WRAP, I gained the confidence, I made friends which I struggle with as I did not go out much. I also learned a lot how to improve my CV, course choices as well as getting to know the school environment and some of the tutors.

"I achieved so much through WRAP, I gained a level 2 in ICT, a lot on personal development and transversal skills - confidence, happiness, positive mindset, resilience, routine, self-acceptance, self-esteem. I went on to complete some Skill Up courses —ACES and Working with people with special needs. Knowing like-minded people and their paths, trust that everything I want is possible to be achieved."

    She concluded:

"I have enrolled and start a Level 3 extended diploma for children's care learning and development in college.

"I would recommend WRAP to anyone as I found it amazing!”
