Focus on people who have a disability, are aged 16 years or over and are unemployed or economically inactive. The stories highlight the impact of support provided to enhance opportunities to gain qualifications and progress into work or stay in work.

    Background

This participant enrolled in the personal development programme with the hope of improving his health, enhancing his social skills. This individual was living with a health condition that made it challenging for him to retain information, he recognised that he needed support to navigate these obstacles.

He learned valuable techniques for organising tasks, creating lists, and use of visual aids. These skills were particularly beneficial for him, as they provided structure and clarity in his daily life. He appreciated the focus on goal setting and building healthy habits, which empowered him to take control of his well-being.

Throughout the programme, he faced some difficulties due to his health condition, but the supportive environment allowed him to express his concerns openly. He found the strategies taught—such as breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps—helpful in improving his retention and understanding.

As he progressed, he began to feel more confident and capable. His commitment to learning and personal growth shone through, and by the end of the programme, he achieved a significant milestone: he gained employment as a Forest School assistant. This role not only allowed him to support students but also provided him with a sense of purpose and belonging. He Said:

"Thank you so much; I couldn’t have done it without your help."
