  • Step Up case study – Embracing Alternative Therapies

    Topics:
    • Employment and skills programmes (including apprenticeships),
    • Step Up case studies

Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.

    Background

This participant suffered from anxiety and depression and found social situations and found large classrooms too much to cope with. She however always had an interest in alternative therapies and a dream of pursuing this as a career.

    The participant said:

“I have always been interested in alternative therapies and their benefits not only for myself and others.

The taster reflexology class was perfect for me. I have anxiety and depression and find social situations and large classes daunting.

The class was smaller, the information provided by the teacher helped me understand the use of reflexology not only for helping me but also the other person.

I gained a lot of knowledge and hopefully soon take a class to become a reflexologist".
