Step Up case study - Participation to suits health situation and childcare responsibilities
Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.
Background
This participant was a young mum who left work because of health issues but wanted to do something to keep her spirits up and return to the workplace at some time in the future.
The participant said:
“I am a mum of 2 and gave up employment early 2024 due to my health. I didn’t want to completely do nothing, and I seen an advert for the Step Up programme on social media. I had a look into the programme and what courses were running. I have always had an interest in reflexology so when I seen the Introduction to Reflexology course, I knew that was the one for me. Better still it was only a few hours one day a week and this suited my health situation and obviously being a mother.
I really enjoyed the course, and the tutor was very informative and professional. Throughout the programme it gave me a wee insight to reflexology and cemented my thoughts to look at it for a possible career.
Since the programme I have undertaken further courses all building my skills, confidence and knowledge with the end goal to set up an at home business to work around my health and family life.”
