    Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and / or employment.

    Background

    This participant suffered with anxiety and depression, she had a lack of confidence and esteem but wanted to work again once her children would go back to school. She was motivated to attend the class to.

    “Walk out of my Mum role and have time for myself.”

    The group focused on wellbeing and skills and the participant engaged in all the activities. The ‘Vision board’ workshop enabled her to use her creativity and focus on her goals.”

    “I really enjoyed the vision boards and the wellbeing and mindfulness. It was also good to have the career advice and development.”

    The Step Up tutor said

    “It has been wonderful to watch her bloom in the class, make friends and connections and realise her potential. She has worked through her struggles and used the opportunities to practice wellbeing and skills, embracing all the programme had to offer.”

    This participant completed the programme and successfully progressed to the CC24+ strand achieving her Level 2 in Project for work. She has now enrolled in the classroom assistant course at SERC to pursue her career in working with children. She has also secured a job as a classroom assistant in her local primary school and a volunteer role working with children with additional needs.”

    “If it hadn’t been for this programme, I never would have had the career path that I have now.”
