    Topics:
    • Employment and skills programmes (including apprenticeships),
    • Step Up case studies

Step Up case studies allows readers to hear from people who have been supported by the Step Up funded projects.

This participant spent a large amount of time out of mainstream education and by her own admission, didn’t attend "half the time" but now wanted to get back into education as she had “wised up” and wanted to pursue a career in health care.

The student has achieved in all areas of the programme and has now gained a place on L2 Health and Social Care. The student said:

"I always felt like just a number in school and that no one really cared if I did well, but this year I felt that I was supported and pushed to do my best by all the staff and also by the other people in the class and I actually then wanted to keep coming into college".
