Step Up case study – College Connect + - Previously struggled in social settings, now in part time employment and educational course
College Connect Step Up case studies allow readers to hear from people who have been supported by the Step Up funded projects.
After being out of school from a young age due to anxiety and personal challenges the participant joined the project. She had no qualifications required for further education and struggled socially in previous settings.
She required intensive support to re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence and manage anxiety. Regular check-ins with the key worker provided reassurance and structure.
She achieved Level 1 Health and Social Care and Level 2 Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy. She has progressed into part-time employment and Level 2 Health and Social Care. She aims to build a career in the care sector.
