Step Up Case Study – WRAP – Confidence back. Coursework nailed. Nursing next.
WRAP – Women Returners Access Programme – Further Education Provision
Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.
The participant joined the programme after a long period out of education and employment, with the goal of improving future opportunities. They were highly motivated and engaged throughout.
They required support with confidence in progression planning rather than academic achievement. The key worker provided guidance on career pathways and future options.
The main barrier was a lack of confidence in moving forward, despite strong capability. Through structured support, the participant developed clarity and belief in their potential.
They successfully completed all coursework and a work placement, which they described as a “huge success.” Reflecting on the programme, they said:
“I now feel in a strong position to choose a path that fits my future.”
The class tutor noted:
“The participant demonstrated excellent commitment and made significant progress in confidence and decision-making.”
The participant plans to progress into further education and ultimately pursue career in nursing, showing renewed ambition and direction.
