Step Up Case Study – WRAP – progress begins with support
WRAP – Women Returners Access Programme – Further Education Provision
Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.
The participant joined the programme after a period out of work due to childcare responsibilities. They experienced anxiety and lacked confidence in returning to education.
They required support with confidence-building, social engagement, and developing routine. The programme provided a supportive and structured environment.
Barriers included isolation and anxiety. Over time, the participant developed confidence and began engaging more actively.
They completed a Level 2 Autism course and stated,
“This course helped me believe in myself again.”
The mentor noted:
“Strong engagement and clear personal development.”
The participant has progressed to a Level 3 course and aim to work with children with additional needs in an educational setting.
