Step up Case study – WRAP – From career break to career comeback – Women Returners Access Programme – Further Education Provision
Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.
The participant had been taking a career break to raise her young son. She was very interested in getting back into work but knew she needed to gain some skills. She had been looking online at the Belfast Met website for courses and had come across the WRAP OCN NI Level 1 Business Administration. This course made the participant feel very excited to pursue as it was for women returning to work.
The participant said:
'The course has given me so much well needed confidence. I was a stay-at-home parent for the last few years and being on the course I met women in the same situation which was very encouraging to know I wasn't alone. The tutors, mentor and classmates have certainly left a long-lasting positive experience. Courses like this are priceless. My confidence and skills I have gained have led me to enrol onto an Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2. I am very excited for my future'.
