Step Up Case Study – WRAP – From anxiety to achievement, back into learning, moving towards work – Women Returners Access Programme – Further Education Provision
Focus on unemployed or economically women. The case studies show the positive impact which the support provides for women in building confidence, refreshing skills, gaining qualifications and work experience and to create progression pathways to further and higher education and/or employment.
The participant joined the programme after being out of work for five years and was referred through a support organisation. She also had childcare responsibilities and experienced anxiety.
She required support to rebuild confidence, develop social skills, and re-engage with learning. The key worker provided consistent guidance throughout.
Barriers included anxiety and balancing responsibilities at home. Over time, the participant became more confident and engaged with others.
She completed a Level 2 Autism course and reported:
“I feel more confident and ready to take the next step.” The mentor noted that “the participant made significant personal progress.”
The participant has progressed to a Level 3 course and aims to secure employment in a school supporting children with additional needs.
