Focus on people who have a disability, are aged 16 years or over and are unemployed or economically inactive. The stories highlight the impact of support provided to enhance opportunities to gain qualifications and progress into work or stay in work.
The participant enrolled on the Step Up Barista course as she knew it was something she wanted to do. She was initially very shy and reserved but it didn’t take her long getting on well with all the other participants and excelling.
She had a child with autism and her aim was to open a disability friendly coffee shop. Since completing the Barista course she has done a pop up coffee shop to see how it would go and it was a great success.
Participant said:
“I looked forward to going each week. The tutor was very patient with us all and individually took her time with us all”.
