College Connect Step Up case studies allow readers to hear from people who have been supported by the Step Up funded projects.
The participant joined the project after failing to achieve the grades for an engineering course.
He required support in numeracy as this was his main academic challenge.
Through support and guidance from his key worker he achieved Level 1 Essential Skills in both Literacy and Numeracy and is progressing towards Level 2. He also gained a Level 1 qualification in bricklaying. He has applied for level 2 engineering pathways and bricklaying keeping his progression routes open,
