Step Up Case study College Connect - Finding a pathway after missing the entry requirements.
College Connect Step Up case studies allows readers to hear from people who have been supported by the Step Up funded projects.
The participant was initially unsure of his career pathway. He was unsuccessful when he applied for Level 2 Joinery and Level 2 Barbering as he did not meet the entry requirements. On leaving school he had no formal qualifications, having struggled with both engagement and attendance.
At the start of the programme, the participant selected a range of vocational tasters, including Engineering, Media and Joinery. He also enrolled in essential skills classes in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT.
Throughout his time on the programme he demonstrated very good attendance and excellent engagement in class. He participated in practical activities and successfully completed all required assessments. He also made strong progress across all essential skills.
