The Department for the Economy has undertaken analysis to understand the post EU Exit regulatory environment within individual sectors of the economy. This research bulletin uses analysis developed by the UK Trade Policy Observatory (based at the University of Sussex), that captures the regulatory obligations that products must demonstrate meeting to be exported to the EU’s single market. This analysis will assist businesses to better understand the types of products and sectors where dual market access opportunities could potentially be exploited.
The UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO) at the University of Sussex has published the briefing paper Regulatory Intensity and the EU Single Market: Implications for the UK. In the paper the UKTPO examines the product regulatory barriers that firms face when exporting to the European Union’s (EU) single market and custom union following the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU:
