    Consultation description

This consultation sets out options for the provision of relief for Energy Intensive Industries (EIIs) from the indirect costs of the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation (NIRO). Relief is currently provided through a Compensation Scheme, funded and administered by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), for which funding has been allocated until 31 March 2023.

Feedback received from this consultation will assist the Department for the Economy (DfE) in reaching a decision on whether relief should continue after BEIS funding ends and, if so, how it should be implemented in Northern Ireland (NI).
