Providing all workers and their families with a decent and secure income is an important priority for the Department for the Economy (DfE). In 2024, the Economy Minister announced that DfE would adopt the Carnegie Framework as its definition of Good Jobs, which focuses on seven dimensions of job quality identified by CIPD.

This framework identifies seven dimensions of job quality: terms of employment; pay and benefits; health, safety and psychosocial wellbeing; job design and the nature of work; social support and cohesion; voice and representation; and work/life balance.
