    As part of the Department’s Open Call for research in July 2024, energy related research proposals were sought to provide additional evidence for policy areas. As part of this open call, research entitled, “Hydrogen in Northern Ireland: Future Costs, Challenges and Implications” was chosen to be conducted by the Centre for Advanced Sustainable Energy (CASE), Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) and Economic, Planning and Environmental Consultants Ltd (EPEC). Additionally, research entitled, “Avoiding Dispatched Down Wind with Green Hydrogen,” was chosen to be conducted by Gemserv.
