Interconnection Policy Statement: Policy Direction for East-West Electricity Infrastructure

This Policy Statement sets out the guiding principles that underpin the Department’s approach to East-West electricity interconnection. It establishes the policy outcomes that interconnection is expected to deliver and provides a framework to guide decision-making.
The Policy Statement is built around three guiding principles:
- evidence-based whole-system assessment and long-term resilience;
- cross-jurisdictional co-operation, and
- positive consumer outcomes through the fair allocation of costs, benefits and risks.
