The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) is an international project which seeks to provide information on the entrepreneurial landscape of 49 countries in 2022. This is important as many studies have shown that entrepreneurship is an important driver of economic growth, competitiveness and job creation. The results of the GEM data analysis are used as key entrepreneurial benchmarking indicators by regional and national authorities around the world. In 2022 the Department for the Economy and Invest NI sponsored the Northern Ireland component of the GEM UK research project.
