  • Decision on Fairer Grid Connection Costs

    Topics:
    • Energy

    Date published: 26 November 2025

Economy Minister Dr. Caoimhe Archibald has announced her decision to change how reinforcement costs associated with new connections to the electricity grid are recovered.

The decision will make the costs of new connections to the electricity grid fairer for many homes and businesses, especially in rural areas, by removing a historic ‘first mover’ disadvantage, a recognised barrier to the connection of homes, businesses and renewable technologies.
