  • £55,000 funding boost for Co-operative Research and Awareness

    Date published: 24 September 2025

Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has announced £55,000 in funding to support co-operative development and raise public awareness of the co-operative business model in Northern Ireland.

This programme aims to strengthen the co-operative sector by increasing public understanding, gathering essential data on existing and emerging co-operatives, and producing targeted research to inform future policy development.

As part of the initiative, five in-person workshops and four online webinars will be held. They are open to the public, those wishing to start a co-operative, entrepreneurs, students, policymakers, and community organisations. These events will offer practical insights, real-world case studies, and opportunities to engage with experts in the field.

The Minister said: “I encourage everyone interested in co-operative business models, plural ownership, and sustainable economic development to attend the upcoming workshops and webinars.

“This support will help build a more resilient and inclusive economy here, and I look forward to working with partners and stakeholders to achieve that goal.”
