  • Re-appointment of Chair and four members to the Labour Relations Agency Board

    Economy Minister Conor Murphy has announced the reappointment of the Chair and four members to the Board of the Labour Relations Agency (LRA).

    Economy Minister Conor Murphy has announced the reappointment of the Chair and four members to the Board of the Labour Relations Agency (LRA).

    Mr Gordon Milligan (Chair) and Ms Geraldine Alexander, Mr Kevin McCabe, Ms Clare Duffield and Mr Lee Wilson have been reappointed to serve as Chair and members of the Board of the Labour Relations Agency from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2027.

    The Minister commented:
    “I am delighted that Gordon, Geraldine, Kevin, Clare and Lee have agreed to continue as Chair and members of the Labour Relations Agency Board for a further three years. I am confident all five will continue to bring significant experience to the role, coupled with their understanding of employment issues, and a keen awareness of the importance of good practice.”

    These appointments are made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.

    Notes to editors:

    1. The LRA is a non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for the Economy, offering impartial advice to both employees and employers. It has responsibility for promoting the improvement of employment relations in Northern Ireland. It provides impartial and independent services for promoting good employment practices and preventing and resolving disputes. The LRA has its origin in the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1976. Its objectives are determined by a board consisting of a Chair and nine members.

    2. LRA appointments are regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments (CPANI).

    3. Chair remuneration is £26,256 per annum, with a time commitment of two days per week.

    4. Board member remuneration is currently £5,643 per annum, with a time commitment of 10 meetings per year.

    6. These reappointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland requires the political activity of appointees (if any declared) to be published.
