  • Murphy comments on RHI tariff uplift

    Date published: 21 October 2024

In the Assembly today a motion brought by the Economy Minister to uplift RHI tariffs, was defeated.

Speaking afterwards, Minister Conor Murphy said: “The current Executive agreed to closure of the Scheme, with an interim increase in tariffs. Today’s vote against the uplift will serve only to prevent participants from getting the benefit of the uplifted tariff this winter. This is regrettable.

“I will now work to progress the closure of the Scheme in line with the Executive commitment.”

    Notes to editors:

    1. It is estimated that the typical Lower Medium Biomass installation would have seen an increase in the region of £5,000 per annum depending on boiler size and load factor.
