  • Minister welcomes latest Economic Output Figures for the north - March 2026

    Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the latest economic output statistics published by NISRA today.

    She said: “These latest statistics show economic output in the north increasing by 1.6% over the year which is higher than in Britain. They follow HMRC trade statistics published last week which indicated that the north’s goods exports grew over the year, supported by a notable increase in exports to the EU and a further rise in trade with the south.”

    The Minister continued: “As we face into an increasingly uncertain economic situation as a result of the conflict in the Middle East, these figures continue to demonstrate the resilience of our businesses and workers.”

    Notes to editors:

    1. The latest Economic Composite Economic Index can be found on the NISRA website.

    2. It shows that economic output in NI increased by 1.6% over the year compared to 1% for the UK.

    3. The latest HMRC Regional Trade Statistics were published on 19th March 2026.

    4. It shows total NI exports of goods increased by 1.1% in 2025 (compared to 2024) and NI exports to the EU increased by 4.3% over the same period.
