    "The statistics released show the employment rate here has increased over the year while the unemployment and economic inactivity rates decreased. The Northern Ireland employment rate is now one of the highest on record at well over 70 per cent.

    "Employment does not just contribute to wealth and value added in the economy as a whole it also boosts individuals and communities.

    "As the Economy Minister my key priority is to make the Northern Ireland economy globally competitive, helping to nurture local industry, attract foreign investment and create new jobs."
