High quality training opportunities for people with a degree in the North West at FinTrU

FinTrU is offering 20 people with a degree the opportunity to start a career in the financial services sector.

Supported by the Department for the Economy, and delivered by North West Regional College and Ulster University, the successful applicants will take part in a six-week industry-relevant training programme. Participants who complete the course successfully are guaranteed a job interview with FinTrU.

Highlighting the Academy, the Department for the Economy‘s Director of Skills, Graeme Wilkinson, commented: “Assured Skills Academies are not only a proven and successful model of upskilling the local workforce, they also help to ensure there are people with the right skills available to businesses, enabling them to provide quality employment and career opportunities while supporting the local economy.

“It is vital that there are people with the right skills available to businesses and this latest Academy delivered once again by North West Regional College and Ulster University will provide people with a degree with a pathway into the growing financial services sector.”

In the North West, FinTrU has gone from 0 to more than 120 employees in just under 16 months, with further plans for rapid growth. The FinTrU Financial Services Academy represents a fantastic opportunity for those embarking on their professional journey or looking for a change in career in an exciting industry.”

The FinTrU North West Financial Services Academy will be delivered by North West Regional College in conjunction with Ulster University and will equip participants with real world learning and experience in the financial services sector.

With support from the Department for the Economy, the college can provide cutting edge research and innovation expertise and also, such as with Assured Skills, high quality training to ensure employers have the people they need to keep growing.”

Dr David McAree, Lecturer in Accounting, at Ulster University said: “The staff of Ulster University Business School, Magee Campus are proud to support the development of talented individuals seeking careers in the financial services sector.  We will endeavour to work with our partners in the North West to ensure that students on the programme are supported in their learning experience as they take advantage of the career opportunities presented to them.”

Applications for the FinTrU North West Financial Services Academy are open until Wednesday 11 March 2020. Applicants must have a minimum 2:2 degree in any discipline and no previous experience is required.
