First Health-Tech Academy launched

Deloitte is looking for graduates who are passionate about the healthcare industry to join their first ever Health-Tech Academy.
The ten week pre-employment skills training programme, backed by the Department for the Economy will provide graduates with the skills and experience required to deliver complex technology solutions for Deloitte’s healthcare clients.
Head of Employer Skills at the Department for the Economy, Ann Williamson, said: "This new Academy is a great opportunity for graduates to develop teamwork, communication and presentation skills while also gaining an industry recognised qualification.
"Assured Skills Academies provide those who’ve recently graduated and those who are looking for a career change the opportunity to upskill for in-demand sectors. Over 85% of graduates who previously participated in Assured Skills Academies went onto secure employment."
Academy participants will receive £150 weekly training allowance and, on completion of the Academy, will be interviewed for a position with Deloitte. If successful graduates can expect a salary of £20,000 plus benefits.
Launching the new Academy, Senior Partner at Deloitte Jackie Henry, said: “Deloitte in Northern Ireland has over 700 people working here with plans to grow that to over 1,000 by 2020. The Assured Skills Academies we have run to date in areas such as Data Analytics, Cloud and Human Capital have been a huge success and our integral part of the firm’s growth plan. I’m delighted that we are now expanding the Academies out into other business areas with the launch of the first ever Health-Tech Academy.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone passionate about supporting the healthcare industry to join our growing team.”
The Health-Tech Academy will be delivered by Belfast Met. Dr Jonathan Heggarty, Director of Curriculum at the College added: "The College is committed to delivering training which equips Northern Ireland’s workforce with the skills needed by industry. Belfast Met has a long-standing relationship with Deloitte in the delivery of pre-employment Skills Academies. We look forward to continuing this great partnership with the launch of this new and exciting Academy."
