You have certain rights if you have been made redundant. These include redundancy pay, a paid notice period and any money your employer owes you (eg unpaid wages or holiday pay).

Normally your employer makes these payments, but if your employer has gone formally insolvent then you can apply to the NI Redundancy Payments Service for these instead.

What you can apply for depends on your circumstances, the NI Redundancy Payments Service can pay redundancy pay if you have worked for your employer for at least 2 years; holiday pay up to a maximum of 30 days; any money owed from your employer, eg unpaid wages, overtime and commission up to a maximum of 8 weeks, and statutory notice pay up to a maximum of 12 weeks if you worked for your employer for at least one month. There is a statutory maximum gross weekly pay amount used to calculate your entitlements which is currently set at £729 per week.
