In September 2010, the Northern Ireland Executive endorsed a new Strategic Energy Framework (SEF) for NI. It sets out clear priorities for Northern Ireland’s energy future over the ten years to 2020 and identifies the key energy goals in terms of building competitive markets, ensuring security of supply, enhancing sustainability and developing Northern Ireland’s energy infrastructure.
This consultation seeks views and comments on the proposed implementation of primary legislation to support the following measures:
- a proposal for an energy efficiency measure
- the duties and obligations of the Department and the Utility Regulator in respect of sustainability
- small-scale feed-in tariff powers
- the transfer/assignment of energy licences
- enforcement provisions
- gas storage provisions
