Review of Early Conciliation

Section 9 of the Employment Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 requires the Department for the Economy (DfE) to review the operation of Early Conciliation after 12 months and again after 36 months of operation.
To assist in fulfilling this statutory requirement, it was agreed by the Department and its Early Conciliation project delivery partners, the Labour Relations Agency (the LRA) and the Office of Industrial Tribunals and the Fair Employment Tribunal (OITFET) that a report would be completed by the LRA.
The report provided by the LRA provides findings which allow for an assessment and review of the operation of Early Conciliation in the 12 month period since its introduction, including the number of Early Conciliation cases, certificates issued and settlements achieved.
