    Under the Research Agenda 2005-08, DETI appointed Experian to carry out a research study into current and future Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) trends in NI tradable services and to identify the areas where intervention is required, to ensure that Northern Ireland is positioned to fully exploit future opportunities arising from FDI in the tradable services sector.

    The objectives of the research were:

    • To undertake an analysis of global and regional investment flows;
    • To conduct a comparative analysis of investment performance;
    • To assess the wider impacts of FDI on the Northern Ireland economy; and
    • Forecast future trends in inward investment.
