  • European Social Fund succession - landscape report

    Date published: 21 July 2021

In 2020, in anticipation of the end of the Northern Ireland European Social Fund Programme, the Strategic Investment Board were commissioned by the Department for the Economy, in partnership with the Department for Communities, to carry out a landscape review to help inform appropriate policy direction and priorities for any future programme.

However, it is now clear that the UK Government intends to develop the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) programme priorities and manage the funds at a UK-level. This has effectively removed strategic oversight and spending power from the NI Executive. The landscape review is being published for information and may be useful to help build the case to secure funding directly from the UK SPF.
