Data and Measurement Development User Engagement Report - Electricity Consumption and Renewable Generation Statistics

DfE Statistics Information, Analysis and Research Branch sought users’ views on work undertaken to develop an improved statistical measure of Electricity Consumption and Renewable Generation (ECRG) in Northern Ireland and the development of an improved data framework in support.
The Energy Strategy, “Path to Net Zero Energy” published in December 2021 committed to reviewing the calculation methodology for the Electricity Consumption and Renewable Generation measure that has been published by DfE since 2014.
A user engagement on the work to develop an improved statistical measure of Electricity Consumption and Renewable Generation in Northern Ireland and the development of an improved data framework was carried out between 4 September 2025 and 31 October 2025.
