    Social housing - a career option within the Health and Social Care family.The Careers Occupational Information Unit (COIU), within the Careers Service, produces regular publications on developments within the NI economy.  

    This newsflash focuses on the housing sector (which itself closely aligns with the wider and important Health and Social Care sector.) Two new qualifications are due to launch in the 2023/24 academic year, providing entry routes for those who would like to build the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in this area. It could be that this is sector that is lesser known to you – if so, read on!

    Current data sources from the housing industry indicate that workforce levels will increase over the next five years. This will create career opportunities for people who have the qualifications, skills and knowledge to support customer needs in the housing sector.

    The Level 3 Apprenticeship in Housing Practice and the Level 5 Foundation Degree in Housing Practice (accredited by The Open University) were developed in close collaboration with the housing sector and have been designed to meet the full professional requirements of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). They are the only qualifications available in Northern Ireland for those interested in a career in the housing sector and will initially be rolled out at North West Regional College.
