  • Careers Occupational Information Unit bulletin - Games, Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) guide

    Topics:
    • Employment and skills programmes (including apprenticeships)

    Date published: 11 February 2025

    Last updated: 13 February 2025

In line with the strategic importance of our local screen industries, the DfE Careers Service has published a new Games, Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) guide, which has been produced in conjunction with key stakeholders including Northern Ireland Screen, the local FE and HE sector, and creative professionals working locally.

The Screen Industries in Northern Ireland have been identified as one of seven of our most innovative, productive and export-orientated economic sectors (Minister Murphy plans to grow seven priority sectors)

The Games, Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) guide is the first publication in a planned three-part series of Creative and Digital Industries career guides.

The guide contains helpful information on entry and progression routes and the variety of career options available across Games, Animation and VFX, as well as video clips and short articles featuring local people studying and working in the sector. There is also useful advice for people who wish to join the industry, insights into transferable skills and qualities, and information on the range of initiatives and schemes available that can help people to gain crucial experience and to begin building their professional portfolio.
