  • Minister welcomes latest Economic Output figures for the north

    Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has commented on the latest economic output statistics published by the Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency (NISRA).

    She said: 

    “Today’s statistics show we continue to outperform Britain.  Economic output in the north increased by 2.9% which is higher than in Britain.  We are also performing relatively well in terms of earnings and export growth. In a very challenging economic context these figures demonstrate the resilience of our businesses and workers.  As Economy Minister I will continue to support businesses and workers to create prosperity for all.”

    1. The latest Economic Composite Economic Index can be found at https://www.nisra.gov.uk/statistics/economic-output/ni-composite-economic-index
    2. It shows that economic output in NI increased by 2.9% over the year compared to 1.3% for the UK.
    3. Annual earnings data published in October show earnings in the NI increasing by 7.4% in the year to April 2025 – the second largest annual increase on record and higher than the annual increase seen in England, Scotland and Wales.  
    4. Furthermore, since the implementation of the Windsor Framework total exports of goods from the NI increased by 2.7% in the year ending Q3 2025, compared to year ending Q3 2023 - while GB exports fell by 5.1% over the same period.
