The Department for the Economy has announced extensions to the terms of office of a number of Chairs and Board Members of public bodies sponsored by the Department.

Construction Industry Training Board
The tenure of Chair Maurice Johnston has been further extended for another six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019. The tenures of Ciaran Brolly and Bryan Vaughan have been extended and Christopher Corken, Siobhan Hassard, David Henry, Derek Martin and Jackie Pollock have been further extended for another six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland
The tenure of Chair Sheila McClelland and David Galloway have been further extended for another six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019. The tenures of Noyona Chundur, Lynne Crowther, Dr Joan Martin and Dr Sinead Furey have been extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland
The tenure of Harry Sinclair and Tom Wright have been further extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
Invest NI
The tenure of Chair Mark Ennis has been further extended for another six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019. The tenure of Padraig Canavan, Brian Baird and Judith Totten have been further extended for three months from 1 January to 31 March 2019.
Northern Ireland Screen
The tenure of Chair Rotha Johnston has been further extended for another six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019. The tenures of Elaine Sperber, Jennifer Johnston, Fiona MacMillan, Ian Parsley and Prof Greg Maguire have been extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
Northern Regional College
The tenure of Richard Jay has been further extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
North West Regional College
The tenure of board member Padraig Canavan has been further extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
South Eastern Regional College
The tenure of board members Gareth Hetherington (currently acting Chair) and Karen Fraser have been further extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019, Professor Alan Woodside has had his tenure extended from 19 January to 30 June 2019.
Tourism NI
The tenure of board members Angelina Fusco, Terry McCartney, Michele Shirlow and Colin Neill have been further extended for six months from 1 January to 30 June 2019.
The extensions were made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland. More information is available at Public Appointments NI.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments, Northern Ireland requires the political activity of appointees (if any declared) to be published. Details of extendees political activity in the past five years are as follows: Mr Parsley canvassed door-to-door for the Alliance Party at 2014, 2016 and 2017 elections, the remaining extendees confirmed no political activity.
