  • Economy Minister announces five Invest NI Board appointments

    Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has announced the appointment of five new members to the Board of Invest NI.

    The Board members have been appointed by the Minister to serve on the Invest NI Board for a three-year period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.

    The new Board members are:

    • Fiona Derry;
    • Emma Garrett;
    • Peter Lynch;
    • Máirtín Ó Muilleoir; and 
    • Andrew Webb. 

    Making the appointments, the Minister said: 

    “Invest NI plays a central role in the delivery of my priorities of more good jobs, improved productivity, decarbonisation, and regional balance.

    “I welcome the new members to the Board.  Their insight and experience will play an important role in shaping economic development in the north in line with my economic vision.” 

    The appointments have been made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.

    1. Invest NI was established under the Industrial Development Act (Northern Ireland) 2002.  It is the region’s economic development agency and a key delivery partner of the Department for the Economy. It supports local entrepreneurs and global investors alike - helping businesses grow, innovate and compete internationally through targeted programmes, expert advice and sector-specific support.

    3. Remuneration for Board members is currently £15,565 per annum.
    4. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland requires the political activity of appointees (if any declared) to be published. Two of the candidates have confirmed political activity in the last 5 years, Peter Lynch and Máirtín Ó Muilleoir have both canvassed on behalf of Sinn Fein.
