Consultation description
The content of ERDF programmes must satisfy a range of EU regulatory requirements and demonstrate how they will address country-specific priorities which have also been set out by the European Commission (Commission). Proposals must be underpinned by a sound evidence base and integrated within robust regional strategies.
In drafting the Northern Ireland (NI) Programme, we have taken the following factors into consideration:
- Executive priorities for NI as set out in the Programme for Government and Economic Strategy
- draft Regional Innovation Strategy and Framework for Smart Specialisation
- commission requirements and recommendations
- evaluation of previous ERDF funds
- alignment with other EU programmes in the 2014-20 period
- views of stakeholders
- scale of funding available
