Summary

The Executive, in its Programme for Government 2011-15, committed to develop and implement a Financial Capability Strategy for consumers. The Strategy is one of a series of Executive interventions designed to break the cycle of deprivation, educational under-achievement, and economic disengagement, and to improve the health and well-being of our population.

The Strategy aims to:

  • address the specific financial capability issues and challenges facing Northern Ireland consumers
  • seeks a joined-up approach across all sectors, public, private, voluntary, and community, co-ordinating efforts, sharing best practice, raising standards, and targeting help towards those with the greatest need
