Consultation description
Aviation plays a vital role in supporting connectivity for people, businesses and communities across the north. This consultation sets out proposed policy positions to support the development of the aviation sector, within the remit of the Department for the Economy.
The consultation focuses on areas where action at a regional level can help strengthen connectivity, address challenges facing the sector and support its long‑term resilience. It reflects the north’s reliance on air travel for access to domestic and international markets, tourism and inward investment, and the need for a clear and coordinated policy framework.
By seeking views on a focused set of proposals, the Department aims to develop an evidence‑based approach that provides clarity for stakeholders and supports a stable, competitive and sustainable aviation sector.
