The vision document identifies a number of key priority clusters and ‘new and emerging technologies’ which it describes as the foundation of NI’s future growth. This includes NI’s life and health science (LHS) sector.

To better understand the needs of the LHS sector, the department is keen to engage with a range of businesses, research institutions and other key partners throughout NI to help drive inputs on the potential policies and interventions to support the growth of key capabilities and technologies. These include capabilities such as:
- precision medicine
- clinical trials
- diagnostics
- connected health
- biomarkers
supported by technology such as:
- AI
- engineering biology
- quantum
- bioinformatics and genomics
- bioimaging.

The department is particularly interested to hear, in relation to NI’s LHS sector, about any issues, opportunities and priorities in regard to:

- regulatory environment
- market access, investment and export.
