The Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Awards 2024 are open for applications. The closing date for nominations was 12 noon Friday 27 October 2023.
The ApprenticeshipsNI and Higher Level Apprenticeship programmes are part funded through the Northern Ireland European Social Fund Programme 2014 – 2020 and the Department for the Economy.
About the awards
The NI Apprenticeship Awards recognise:
apprentices who are making a significant contribution in their workplace and have shown a dedication to excel in their professional development and learning.
higher level apprentices who are making a significant contribution in their workplace and have shown a dedication to excel in their professional development and learning.
influential partnerships between employers and training providers that support the continuous growth of Skills Development in Northern Ireland.
apprenticeship mentors who are making a positive contribution to their employer’s business by integrating apprentices whilst developing the professional and technical skills of those apprentice(s).
individuals or organisations that have made significant contributions to promoting diversity and inclusion in their respective fields.
apprentices who have excelled in their apprenticeships within the public sector.
New for 2024, the Diversity and Inclusion Award celebrates and acknowledges employers’ commitment to diversity and inclusion in the delivery of apprenticeship training.

2023 Awards winners
The awards ceremony was held at the Belfast Harbour Commissioners Harbour Office, Belfast on 29 March. The winners of the 2023 Apprenticeship Awards are:
Apprentice of the Year Award 2023
Conor Braniff has been working towards his Level 2 in Wall and Floor Tiling, is employed by Tullycross Tiling, and is undergoing his training at Southern Regional College.

Finalists
The other finalists were Janice Nelson, G. S. Hunter Engineering studying at North West Regional College and Luke Marks, Tobermore studying at South West College.
Kerry Moore, working towards her Level 6 HLA in Business Technology, is employed by Deloitte MCS, and is studying with Ulster University.

Finalists
The other HLA finalists were Roisin McCloskey, Little Treasures Day Nursery and After Schools with North West Regional College and Cain McConville, Norbrook Laboratories Ltd with Southern Regional College.

Small to Medium Enterprise Award 2023
The winner is Nugent Engineering in partnership with South West College.

Large Employer Award 2023

Charles McAuley, working for Mivan Ltd, and supporting apprentices from Northern Regional College, is the first person to win the new Mentor Award.
