Onshore Renewable Electricity Action Plan

The aim of the Onshore Renewable Electricity Action Plan is to maximise the amount of renewable electricity generated from onshore renewable sources in Northern Ireland.

Onshore Renewable Electricity

Following approval by the NI Executive in November 2013, DETI published the Onshore Renewable Electricity Action Plan (OREAP) 2013-2020.

The aim of the Action Plan is to maximise the amount of renewable electricity generated from onshore renewable sources in order to enhance diversity and security of supply, reduce carbon emissions, contribute to the 40% renewable electricity target by 2020 and beyond and develop business and employment opportunities for Northern Ireland companies.

The draft Plan was the subject of a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and a Habitats Regulation Appraisal (HRA) to assess potential impacts on the environment.
