The cost of doing business in Northern Ireland

Cost pressures were identified as a key issue impacting on local businesses during the downturn, but this was an area of concern to Northern Ireland business that had not been examined in depth since ERINI’s work on the costs of doing business in 2005.  As part of our Research Agenda 2012-15, DETI proceeded to undertake a study, with support from InterTradeIreland and the Ulster University Economic Policy Centre, to benchmark key business cost areas locally against other economies, in particular the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

This project supplements ongoing work by the Economic Advisory Group (EAG) in developing an overall Competitiveness Report for NI (due in autumn 2015).
