The Department for the Economy has reappointed one Chair and twenty four governing body members across the six Further Education college governing bodies.
Five individuals have been reappointed with effect from 1st July 2019 as follows:
South Eastern Regional College
Mrs Karen Fraser, Mr Gareth Hetherington and Professor Alan Woodside OBE
North West Regional College
Mr Gerard Finnegan (Chair) and Mr Padraig Canavan OBE (member)
The reappointments of Mr Finnegan, Mr Canavan, Mrs Fraser and Professor Woodside are for a period of four years. The reappointment of Mr Hetherington is for a period of three years and 10 months.
A further twenty governing body members have been reappointed with effect from 1st August 2019 for a period of four years:

These are regulated appointments and have been made in accordance with the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.
Notes to editors:
1. The governing body of a further education college is responsible for securing the efficient and effective management of the college, the provision of suitable further education to its students and determining the college’s strategic direction. In sustaining and developing its services, the governing body takes into account the educational needs of the business sector and the local community.
2. The post of Governing Body Chair is remunerated at £20,000 per annum. The post of Governing Body member is remunerated at £250 for a Governing Body meeting and £150 for a committee meeting or event sanctioned by the Chair. For the posts of both Governing Body Chair and Governing Body member, travel and subsistence allowances are payable at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates.
3. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland requires the political activity of appointees to be published. Any political activity is mentioned in the pen pictures.
