Minister announces re-appointments to Construction Industry Training Board Northern Ireland

Statutory training board

CITB NI is the only remaining statutory training board in Northern Ireland. Its purpose is to encourage the training of those employed or intending to be employed in the Northern Ireland construction industry.

The re-appointments are effective from 01 July 2016 to 31 May 2019.

Christine Boyle will be re-appointed as an employer representative. She is currently employed as Managing Director of Lawell Asphalt Co Ltd. Ms Boyle continues to bring a sound knowledge of the construction industry from her specific perspective.

Maria Bradley will be re-appointed as an employee representative. Maria is currently the HR and Quality Manager in Gilbert Ash. She continues to bring a strong commitment to improvement and strategic development in relation to employee and skills issues.

Manus O’Kane will be re-appointed as an employee representative. He is currently Marketing and Business Development Manager at Deane Public Works Ltd, a Civil Engineering Construction Company. Mr. O'Kane continues to bring significant employee experience and marketing business knowledge from within the construction industry to CITBNI including a keen commitment to training, skills and quality improvement.

Clare Mahon will be re-appointed as an educational representative. She is currently a lecturer and the Course Director for the BSc Hons in Construction Engineering and Management programme in Ulster University. Mrs Mahon continues to bring extensive experience of training construction students in Northern Ireland.

1. These appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments NI Code of Practice.

2. The post is non-pensionable. Appointments to the Board are made on a part-time basis. Members are remunerated at the rate of £144 per day for over four hours (£74 for less than 4 hours) attended. The time commitment is typically 15 days per year.

3. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Northern Ireland requires that the political activity of appointees be published. None of the appointees have declared any political activity in the past five years.
